Our Story — Celebrating the Sweetness of Purvanchal

Founder portrait Rupam

My name is Rupam, and Purvanchal Sanesh is more than a small business — it is a piece of my home, my memories, and my heritage.

I grew up in a home where traditions weren’t just followed — they were lived. Among them, Thekua was more than a sweet; it was a symbol of blessings, warmth and togetherness. Whether during Chhath Puja, family gatherings, or simple evenings at home, Thekua carried the taste of Purvanchal’s soul.

Over the years, whenever I made Thekua for family and friends, I would often hear: “You should share this with more people — everyone should taste this!” But life moved at its own pace, and between raising children and managing home, my dreams quietly waited.

As my children grew older and my responsibilities lightened, I felt a pull back to the traditions I grew up with. That is when I decided to take a step forward and create something meaningful — something rooted in purity, honesty, and heritage.

And so, Purvanchal Sanesh was born — a name that means “A Gift from Purvanchal”, carrying the warmth of a mother’s kitchen and the memories of festivals filled with joy.

Making Thekua – traditional method

How We Make Our Thekua

Our thekua is still made just the way it has been for generations:

  • Hand-mixed dough using organic jaggery (gud)
  • Shaped with the traditional wooden ‘saancha’
  • Balanced with pure desi ghee
  • Fried patiently in small batches in our home kitchen
  • Packed with care — with no maida, no preservatives, and no refined sugar

Every piece carries the same flavour, texture, and warmth that our family has cherished for decades.

Why We Do This

Because Thekua is more than a sweet — it is a story. A story of home. A story of tradition. A story that connects generations.

Purvanchal Sanesh is my way of sharing that story with you.
